Need


Need can be used either as an ordinary verb or as a modal auxiliary verb.

As an ordinary verb

The ordinary verb need has the usual forms needs and needed. It is used with a to-infinitive.

    • One needs to be punctual.
    • Everybody needs to be loved.

Questions and negatives are made with do.
